Reinsuring giant Swiss Re has implemented a Technology Business Management (TBM) platform from Apptio that it hopes will improve its IT cost management. The SaaS-based Apptio system will be rolled out across Swiss Re's global IT operations and will provide greater insight in to the exact costing of IT services to the business, helping with planning, budgeting, forecasting, and controlling, the company said.

Swiss Re has installed a new cost management software that gives the company more transparency of the cost of IT to the business. The reinsurer has moved from using spreadsheets to installing the SaaS-based software from Apptio, which is designed specifically for managing IT costs in an automated manner. It is deploying the software for its global operations across more than 20 countries.
