What's that crackling sound? The Olympic torch is making its way to Friday's opening of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The flame was lit Oct 24th in Olympia, Greece and has been making the 100+-day, 1,200-mile trek to Pyeongchang, South Korea held high by approximately 7,500 athletes, stars, officials, and CIOs.
Yes, you read that correctly. CIOs.
Les Ottolenghi, CIO at Caesars Entertainment Corp, carried the Olympic torch a quarter mile leg in Seoul, moving the flame toward its finish line at Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium. He was one of 12 U.S. delegates sponsored by Olympic partner Samsung Electronics.
According to a Samsung spokeswoman quoted in the Wall Street Journal, criteria for selection as a torchbearer includes “achievers who inspire others and dreamers who strive to reach their potential.”
