Apptio Named Washington’s Best Company to Work For

Seattle Business Magazine Recognizes Apptio’s Corporate Culture for Second Consecutive Year

SEATTLE, WA – June 15, 2012 – Apptio, the leading provider of on-demand Technology Business Management (TBM) solutions, today announced it was recognized by Seattle Business magazine as the overall winner of this year’s “Best Companies to Work For” award in the large-sized company category. In 2011, Apptio was named third place winner in the mid-sized company category out of over 400 applicants. Seattle Business magazine’s “Best Companies to Work For” list is an employee survey-based award program that recognizes businesses that are setting the standards for leadership, benefits, work environment, innovative training programs, happiest employees and more.

“The Pacific Northwest is one of the most competitive regions in the nation in terms of attracting top technical talent, especially as technology juggernauts like Facebook and Google have opened offices in the area,” said Sunny Gupta, co-founder, president and CEO at Apptio. “It’s not often you have the chance to create an entirely new software category and our employees thrive on this challenge. Even though our company has grown significantly over the past few years, we have not lost sight of what motivates and inspires people, which is one of the reasons why our employees consistently rate Apptio as a great place to work.”

Backed by $91M in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners, Madrona Venture Group, T. Rowe Price and others, Apptio has pioneered the Technology Business Management software category. Over 100 enterprise customers, including Bank of America, Boeing, Facebook, Microsoft, and JPMorgan Chase, use Apptio to manage and communicate the cost, quality and value of IT services. In response to increased market demand, Apptio has almost more than tripled its employees from 115 in December 2010 to more than 300 today.

“The companies on our 100 Best Companies To Work For list have created better workplaces by addressing such issues as communication, leadership and culture,” said Leslie Helm, editor of Seattle Business magazine. “As the economy recovers and competition for talent intensifies, these companies will have an edge.”

The 2012 Best Companies to Work For award winners were given special recognition at the annual awards banquet on June 14, at the Seattle Westin. The full list of winners is available at www.seattlebusinessmag.com, and will be featured in the July issue of Seattle Business magazine.
