6 New Apptio BI Reports for Faster, Accurate Insights

Pre-built reports provide a consistent user experience where you can create new reports — or variations on existing ones — without extensive training. Reports are designed for a wide variety of users, including TBM administrators, CIOs and executives, analysts, account groups, owners, and more.

1. Financial Review by Account Groups – CapEx (ApptioOne – Cost)

This report provides an executive view of the overall CapEx budget and CapEx spend of your organization by account groups. Use this report to consider an executive brief that explains IT spend and to perform the periodic financial reviews that are essential for effectively managing IT spend. Data in this report includes account group, CapEx, CapEx budget, and CapEx budget variance so you can adjust plans to accommodate for variance. The report can be easily exported to a CSV file.

2. Financial Review by Account Groups – OpEx (ApptioOne – Cost)

This report provides an executive view of the overall OpEx budget variance and the OpEx spend (and IT costs) of your organization by account groups. When drilled down, you can view the cost center owners and cost centers so you can determine which account groups or cost center owners are responsible for the largest IT spend. The report helps users verify if they are accurately planning IT costs.

3. Financial Review by Owner – CapEx (ApptioOne – Cost)

This report provides an executive view of the overall CapEx budget variance and the CapEx spend of your organization by owners. When drilled down, you can view the report filtered by account group so you can determine which group is responsible for the largest IT spend. For example, the report populates the top five over-budget and under-budget groups based on your data. Various charts in the report also help you determine whether variances are real or caused by mis-categorization of data. This report provides visibility throughout your organization and to key stakeholders.

4. Financial Review by Owner – OpEx (ApptioOne – Cost)

This report provides an executive view of the overall OpEx budget variance and the OpEx spend (and IT costs) of your organization by owners. When drilled down, you can view the report by Account Group so you can determine which account group is responsible for the largest IT spend. Various charts in the report also help you determine whether variances are real or caused by mis-categorization of data.

5. ITP Plan Summary (ApptioOne – Plan)

This report provides a summary view of the overall spend of your organization by cost ownership, with quick KPIs showing the following metrics:

• Total planned spend (budget)
• Contract spend up for renewal during the plan’s year
• Current and planned headcount

The report breaks down planned spend, cost pool, spend type, and budget ownership. All components are drillable to line-item details to support additional analysis. Global filters allow for quick filtering of the report to specific cost owners, vendors, and OpEx/CapEx.

6. Executive View – Cloud Costs (Cloudability)

This report is designed for Cloudability users and provides a broad overview of the cloud costs for your organization. The report presents a clear view of the cloud costs by time frames, along with vendor breakdowns and transaction types. This executive report also shows month-on-month costs by products and services, which makes it easy to figure out various drivers of costs.

Get started with Apptio BI Reports

Out-of-the-box reporting is essential for delivering the speed of reporting and ease of use we are striving for, both for customers new and experienced with Apptio BI.

Even for longtime users, BI Reports create faster time to value by providing pre-constructed reports that do not require you to start from scratch. Reports are not only a source of time savings but can be a guidance for how to produce both individual visualizations and entire reports. For users who want to personalize these reports, they can be duplicated, customized, and shared to meet the needs of your organization.

Customers can access out-of-the-box reports by navigating to Apptio BI in their application menu and going to the Apptio BI Reports page. When Apptio BI is launched and you log in for the first time, Apptio BI Reports will be available to view immediately. Depending on the Apptio products you have, you will be presented with different reports on their home screen that automatically aggregate data from their environments.

Reports are built and maintained by Apptio and will remain constant across the top of the Reports page. Our report catalog is constantly growing, thanks to your input and our product teams, with new reports being released every month to address an ever-increasing number of use cases.
