Apptio’s Technology Business Management (TBM) applications have always captured the attention of IT leaders. One such leader is Dean Nelson, an executive at a global commerce company is also one of the TBM Council’s visionary members.
He also recently won the TBM Council’s Operational Excellence Award for his work in managing infrastructure that enabled $212 billion of commerce last year. I’m always inspired by Dean’s IT leadership.
But Dean is so much more than that – he’s also a humanitarian leader.
After a trip to India in 2007, Dean and his mother were inspired to effect change in the remote mountain village of Sesawng, where children didn’t have access to education. This trip started the ‘Just Let Me Learn’ Foundation.
Earlier this year, his foundation launched an innovative Indiegogo campaign to raise $149,000 to build a school in the village. The goal is to give 750 kids a year access to quality education and, in the process, break the vicious cycle of poverty.
I am proud to know Dean and feel deeply inspired by his kindness. Apptio wholeheartedly supports his efforts to empower children in this remote mountain village. It also inspires me to see Dean apply the same innovation he drives in his day job, to a cause that can make a different type of impact on the world.
You can learn more about the Indiegogo campaign here. I hope you are just as inspired as I am to support this great cause.
